Meet Some Heroes

Amanda Amirault and her oh-so-special Labrador, Wilson, will again be forming “Team Wilson” to walk in the Paws 4 a Cure Walk on Sunday, May 19 in Wakefield, Massachusetts.  Wilson is a multi-occasion survivor of mast cell cancer, and is still a player at Yappy Hour at Paws for Praise at the age of 12!  We love him, and regard him as a hero in many ways.  Characteristically, Amanda has been promoting the event and telling people that they can come and meet Lilly the Hero Pit Bull at the Walk, but while we think she’s wonderful, our hearts always beat just a little faster for Wilson, our own hero we know so well.  He has made countless children feel just a little better, and has taught countless puppies how to behave around adult dogs without intimidating them, and has shown many people how great the bond can be between an owner and their dog.  He is what we call an everyday hero.  And to prove it, because he can no longer do the entire three mile walk on his own, he seems willing to try riding in a wagon just so he can still go along. Whether he walks or not, we will always regard the Walk as Wilson’s Walk, no matter what the organizers call it.  Wilson is a hero – please think about donating to his walk this year.  It would be nice if he could have some encouragement to get into that wagon!
Wilson was trained with progressive reinforcement training and Paws for Praise is happy to sponsor his team t-shirts this year!
